Dead by Daylight Will be Haunted by The Ring in its Next Horror Crossover

After a chapter featuring original characters, Dead by Daylight is once again turning into a well-rounded horror crossover with the next update. The next chapter in Dead by Daylight will be based on The Ring, or more specifically, the original Japanese novel and Ringu movie. While Montreal-based developer Behavior Interactive has yet to reveal details of the new Ringu-based Killer and Survivor, it seems likely that we will encounter the ghost of famous scary girl Sadako Yamamura. You can check out a quick trailer for The Dead by Daylight Ringu chapter below.

An essential part of horror history is joining the extensive Dead by Daylight roster. Get ready for Ringu to spread his curse across The Fog, with a new chapter inspired by Kōji Suzuki’s novel and the acclaimed original Japanese movie.

Originally published in 1991, The Ring of Koji Suzuki began the haunting story of a spreading curse and its doomed victims. In 1998, the novel was adapted into a Japanese film of the same name (widely known as Ringu to North American audiences) instantly adding a new presence to the cast of cinematic horror icons. The premise alone is chilling. A video that, when viewed, promises death in seven days. An alarming fate, the twisted faces of the victims aggravated. The global impact of this Japanese franchise remains undeniable, and we’re thrilled to celebrate its induction into the Horror Hall of Fame that died in the light of day.

Suffice it to say, stepping into the scary and sad world of Ringu opens the door to endless and exciting possibilities. Sadly, you’ll have to wait a little longer than seven days for more information on the next chapter of Dead by Daylight – but don’t let that stop your imagination from running wild. “Well, the only thing I can say is that this new chapter is going to leave an imprint,” said Creative Director Dave Richard. “A real heart-pounding experience. Tell a friend, otherwise…”

Dead by Daylight is now available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Switch, Stadia, and mobile platforms. Ringu update will come out of the well next March.
