Drew Barrymore has opened up about riding a high-speed motorcycle with teenage Keanu Reeves.
During a recent episode of her talk show, Barrymore described the experience as “the journey of my life.”
“It was that moment when I remember the love of life and happiness,” she said.
Drew Barrymore remembered riding a high-speed motorcycle with Keanu Reeves on her sixteenth birthday – calling it “the journey of my life.”
During the final episode of her eponymous talk show, Barrymore and Reeves—who starred together in the 1986 Christmas movie “Babes in Toyland”—discussed this moment.
“Can I bring it back to a memory I have with you?” Barrymore, her former representative, asked her. “I was at this club and it was my 16th birthday and I came – this is the one I have, if you have anything to add or change please let me know.
“She went in and grabbed my hand and took me outside and put me on your motorbike and we drove at the warp speed of my life.”
She added, “We went and she took me on a tour of my life. And I was very free. I was a free human being. And this was the only moment I remember the love of life and happiness.”
“I hold it very dear because the older we get, the harder it is to get to that feeling.”
Reeves seemed to have trouble remembering the encounter but agreed with Barrymore about the exhilarating nature of motorcycling.
The “Matrix Resurrections” star said riding your bike is exciting, and there’s freedom in that.
Barrymore isn’t the only Hollywood star who has recently shared details about her friendship with Reeves.
Recently, “Speed” actress Sandra Bullock recounted how the actress showed up at her home with champagne and truffles so she could try them out for the first time.
During the early years of their friendship, Bullock said, there was little conversation about champagne and truffles. She told Reeves that she never indulged in the mix and said she doesn’t think about anything.
But a few days later, Reeves showed up at Bullock’s new home on his motorcycle with flowers, champagne, and truffles in hand.
“He said, ‘I just thought you might want to try champagne and truffles, to see what it’s like,'” Bullock told Esquire.
Then the two enjoyed sweets, and Bullock painted Reeves’ nails.
