Elliot Page fans come to the actor’s defense after a viral post on social media led to transgender hate attacks and murders.
Elliot Page has been trending recently on social media as a result of anti-transgender posts that were Umbrella Academy He was called an asterisk (the act of calling a passing person by his or her former name without consent).
Fans on Twitter were quick to defend Paige when someone shared a clip of the actor from 2019 and used his dead name. The individual defended himself the next day by noting that the clip was from the year prior to the Page’s page that had appeared publicly as transgressive, but others used the controversy as an excuse to attack the Page.
People condemn me so badly for Elliot Page’s “dead label” because I posted a clip from 2019 when they were known as Eileen and were introduced as a woman. This is really stupid https://t.co/qpaNSrUVxL

I was curious as to why Ellen Page is trending, especially since his name is Elliot Page. Don’t click on it. It’s just hateful tweets and replies, which is not surprising of people who can’t even respect a person’s name. He’ll just piss you off and that’s all he’ll do.

Transphobes publishes an old passage from Elliot Page discussing bigotry in the United States, and, having named Jussie Smollet as an example, uses it to dismiss the existence of a problem of bigotry…while simultaneously using bigoted language and hatred toward Elliott Page. pic.twitter.com/ureBnzswro

If you’re wondering why Elliot Page is trending:
People were tweeting a clip of him on Twitter late on the show in 2019, before moving on, in which he talked about Jussie Smollett, hate crime, and LGBT discrimination. The tweets offended him and got a common dead name.

“Hey friends, I want to share with you that I am transgender, their pronouns are he/she and my name is Elliot,” the page shared in December 2020 when they came out as transgender and non-binary. “I feel so lucky to be writing this. Thank you for your courage, generosity and hard work to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place. I will give all the support I can and will continue to strive for a more loving and equal society.”

All transgender people deserve the opportunity to be who we are and be accepted for who we are. Today we celebrate Elliott’s wonderful page.”
