Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte plans to sue over false claims she is transgender

Brigitte, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, is planning legal action after a bizarre disinformation campaign was launched against her by falsely claiming that she gave birth to a man.

These rumors appear to have originated in a Facebook post in March before circulating in mid-October when far-right media outlets published an article about the supposed “Brigette Macron mystery”.

Unfounded rumors circulating on social media say that Brigitte is a transgender woman whose birth name was Jean-Michel Trogno.

In the past few weeks, the outlandish allegations have gained new momentum with the emergence of the popular hashtag #JeanMichelTrogneux.

Brigitte, 68,’s lawyer, told AFP that Brigitte, 68, now plans to file a legal complaint to file a lawsuit over the misinformation.

“I have decided to start the procedures, they are in progress,” Inochi told the news service.

The attacks on Brigitte online come as Macron prepares for re-election in April – although he has not officially announced his candidacy.
