Hawkeye’s Mockingbird Tease Could Pay Off in Future MCU Projects

Hawkeye director Rhys Thomas says the Laura Barton/SHIELD reveal could be expanded on future MCU projects.

the hook The season finale was full of surprises, including the reveal of Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini), the wife of Hawke/Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner).

A plot line running throughout the series involved Hawk hunting down an antique clock that was taken from the Avengers Tower and auctioned off on the black market. Clint finally got his hands on the watch in the season finale, “So This Is Christmas,” in which it was revealed that it belonged to Laura and that she had been working on SHIELD Agent 19. While the series did not provide any further details about Laura’s past, Hawkeye director Rhys Thomas said, He could reappear in other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects.

“We have seen her over these years as his wife, and there was clearly a desire for it [to expand her backstory]Thomas said. “We should know more about her. She has more than just staying at home with the kids. It was a fun little thing to glean during the season and again a nice little bonus that we hope will promise more character-cultivating at the end.”

Agent 19 was created by writer Len Wein and artist Neal Adams, Agent 19 first appeared on amazing stories #6 Back in June 1971 she is the ex-wife of Clint Barton/Hawk comics. However, in the comics, her real name is Barbara Morse, and she also has the codename Mockingbird.

Adrian Palecki portrayed Bobby Morse/Mockingbird in shield clients, Potentially raise some continuity questions within the MCU. However, Shield Agents‘s The state in the MCU is a bit up in the air, as it’s unclear if it’s Canon, part of a different MCU timeline, or out of the MCU entirely. Marvel Studios is best known for adapting the comics on which its properties are based, so it’s entirely possible that Palicki and Cardellini’s characters will exist alone in the proper MCU as Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird and Laura Barton/Agent 19, respectively.


Laura from Cardellini first appeared in Avengers: Age of UltronIt was revealed that Clint is married and has a family. Since then, she’s only appeared in one other MCU movie: Avengers: Endgame.
