India’s Harnaz Sandhu is the new Miss Universe, 21 years after Lara Dutta won the title in 2000.

Ms. Sandhu represented India today at the 70th Miss Universe contest for 2021, which was held in Eilat, Israel.

The 21-year-old from Punjab won the title, beating Paraguay Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalila Maswan.

Sando was awarded the crown by former Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Mesa from Mexico.

Before the Chandigarh-based model, only two Indians had won the Miss Universe title – actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

Asked what advice she would give young women on how to deal with the pressures they face, Ms Sandhu said: “The biggest pressure young people face today is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourself to others and let’s talk about things. More important occur all over the world.”

“That’s what you need to understand,” said Mrs. Sandhu. “Come and speak for yourself because you are the leader of your life, you are your voice. I believed in myself and that is why I stand here today.” self confidence.

Ms Sandhu, who started her Miss India journey at the age of 17, was previously Miss Diva 2021, was crowned Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 and was even placed in the top 12 list of Miss Femina Miss India 2019.

She has also acted in Punjabi films like “Yaara Diyan Poo Baran” and “Bai Ji Kuttange”.
