James Franco’s problems continue to escalate.
After causing a backlash by admitting he slept with his students, Page Six learned exclusively that Franco served in the long-running legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Franco, 43, will be questioned about whether he had an affair with Heard when she was still married to Depp.
Depp’s lawyers also want to ask the actor if he saw the alleged bruises on Heard’s face.
Franco will sit down early next year to deposit $50 million in Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Heard.
Deb Heard is suing Virginia over an op-ed in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she described her as a victim of domestic violence. She doesn’t mention her previous name, but he says she was clearly referring to him as her abuser. Deep denies any wrongdoing.
Depp sent the subpoena to Franco after surveillance video in May 2016 showed him entering an elevator with Heard 24 hours after their clash, with Heard claiming Depp had given her a black eye.
Franco and Heard are seen leaving the elevator together on the penthouse floor, where Depp and Heard were sharing an apartment.
Depp’s legal team wants to question Franco as a “witness” to see if he and Heard discussed the fight or if Franco saw any injuries to Heard’s face.
In the lawsuit, Depp said: “I have vigorously denied Ms. Heard’s allegations since she first made them in May 2016…when she entered court to obtain a temporary restraining order with bruising and bruising that witnesses and surveillance footage showed she did not. She owns every day of the week. I will continue to deprive them for the rest of my life. I have not abused Mrs. Heard or any other woman.”
Depp said he brought the lawsuit “not only to clear my name and restore my reputation, but to try to make clear the women and men whose lives have been damaged by abuse and to whom Ms Heard has repeatedly lied to claiming to be their spokesperson”.
Heard’s legal team alleged that Franco lived in the building around the time of the accident, simply taking the elevator together. Depp’s lawyers said this was a “lie.”
The trial is scheduled for April 11, 2022 in Fairfax County, Virginia and is expected to last 12 days.
Meanwhile, Franco had just admitted in a wide-ranging interview that he was “addicted to sex” and “couldn’t be loyal to anyone” until he met his current girlfriend Isabel Pakzad.
