Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) crosses the corridors with a couple Angel Vets on 9-1-1: Lone Star.
Julie Benz and Amy Aker will guest star – not together, unfortunately – on season three of Fox’s first responder drama, TV Insider has learned exclusively. Benz will make his debut in the premiere, while Acker will appear in Episode Five, to air on February 7.
Benz will play Sadie, an artist and outdoorsy woman with the humility and astonishment of a naturalist, but the bragging and coppery of a Texan. It’s in the cabin next to Owen in hill country.
Sadie is there for this first adventure [of the ice storm hitting Austin]”She could definitely come back at some point,” says executive producer Tim Meiner. “Owen and Sadie aren’t really a romantic pairing as there are two wonderful, confident people who find each other in a moment of crisis.”
Aker Catherine, Texas Governor’s Chief of Staff, is described as an alpha, as well as witty, beautiful, and adorable. She will appear in several episodes. “She’s in the political world in a rather rare space. She’s someone who’s going to come to Owen’s orbit,” says Meiner. The two have instant connection, and their dynamic is “super fun and exciting.”
Benz TV credits include the above Angel (as Darla), On becoming a god in Central FloridaAnd Hawaii Five 0, And Dexter. In addition to playing Fred (then Illyria) on Angel, including Acker credits suitAnd the gifted, And Someone interesting.
As you’ll remember, the second season of 9-1-1: Lone Star It ended up shutting down 126, and Owen beats up the person to deliver the news: Billy Tyson (Billy Burke), Austin’s next deputy fire chief. (Owen declined the job.)
