Marvel Fans Are Celebrating Wong After Spider-Man: No Way Home

He only has a small part in There is no place for home, although we find out that Wong has become the new Supreme Wizard in the five years since Blip caused Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to cease to exist. Wong is also the only person against Stephen Strange casting a spell to make the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Fans are now celebrating Wong’s growing role in the MCU, calling him one of the most prominent characters Spider-Man: There is no room for home.

Fans immediately embraced this aspect of Wong, cheering him on as Spider-Man: No Way Home scored the third biggest global opening ever. Of course, had the spell not gone wrong, we wouldn’t have gotten the lucrative royalties of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, two of the movie’s highlights.

He also had a slightly extended role in the actual movie, appearing in a post-credits scene with Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Katy (Awkwafina), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). The group is shown studying the Ten Rings that Shang Zhi has confiscated from his father Wennu. Before the post-credits scene ends, Wong tells Shang-Chi and Katy to prepare for the wild journey they are about to embark on, because becoming a hero in the MCU is no small task.

There are even invitations for Wong to star in his own Disney+ series. Fans X 2019 star Doctor Strange asked what the Wong series would look like, forcing him to think about the project himself. “I’m spoiled for choice. I guess training other magicians?” He said. “It’s definitely a load of weapons, yet to be discovered, powers and what we can do. I think Wong can go ahead and settle the job somewhat, perhaps?”
