Michael Keaton dusts off his robe and signature cowl for “Batgirl,” the upcoming HBO Max superhero movie.
The actor is expected to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, the character he originated in the 1989 Tim Burton movie. He will star alongside Leslie Grace, who plays the lead role.
Although plot details are kept secret, the film focuses on the heroine whose real identity is Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham Police Commissioner Jim Gordon.
Warner Bros. declined. Comment on ketone selection.
As previously announced, JK Simmons will return to portray Jim Gordon after first playing the character in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League.” Brendan Fraser plays the villainous Firefly, a sociopath with a passion for fireworks.
There is no exact date for the Batgirl movie, though the film is slated to premiere on HBO Max in 2022. That same year, Keaton will be seen as a Caped Crusader in the Warner Bros. adventure. Coming “The Flash”. The film, which also features Ben Affleck as Batman and stars Ezra Miller as the title hero, is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.
It’s been 30 years since Keaton first donned the Batsuit, and in the time, he says he was fascinated by the prospect of revisiting his iconic role.

Batgirl is currently in production in London. Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adel Elaraby and Bilal Falah will direct the film for Warner Bros. Christina Hudson (“Bumblebee,” “The Flash”).
