The 45-year-old Texas native said doctors couldn’t understand how she was breathing with her condition. “They said if my body didn’t respond as quickly as it did, I would have had two days [to live]They said, ‘We don’t know how you’ve been breathing this whole time. I beat COVID and didn’t lose my taste or smell or anything, but it hit my very hardened lungs.’

Doctors gave her steroids and antibiotics and showed Mandy several breathing exercises, which eventually helped her get better. “It was definitely an experience, and it wasn’t scary until I got home. When I got home, I was like, ‘Wow, I’ve probably never been here before.’ I was lucky,” she explained.
