Earlier this summer, fans were Nelly And Chantelle Jackson I was shocked to learn that the two had called them up after seven years of dating.
In her most recent appearance on the daytime talk show “The Real,” Jackson opens up for the first time why she and her longtime rapper boyfriend decided to go their separate ways. The 37-year-old told the hosts of “The Real” that due to lack of time, and thanks to their busy schedules, to spend time together they decided to go this route.
Jackson began by saying, “My ex-wife and I didn’t end up on bad terms.” She later added, “When we started our relationship, I was always on the road with him to travel, out of the country, to concerts, all those good things, but then when it came to a point I was often at home building my shu gumi company, or just Working on my brand and being on the road, and being on the road less with him, we started to diverge.”
But all hope may not be lost in former lovebirds. She said after realizing that they needed some time apart from each other, they thought “let’s take this time and see if this split brings her back full circle for us and frankly that’s what we’re doing.” One of the other hosts explained that they didn’t actually break up but that it was “basically a break”. Jackson replied in an indecisive tone, “Um, yes you can say that. Break, split.”
Jackson also said that if the break was eventually going to bring them back together, they would get them back together but if it was “it’s going to stop that, it’s inevitable.”
Jackson and Neely started dating after their 10-year relationship with R&B singer Ashanti I finish. Ashanti has never explained the exact reason behind their split – but on two different occasions, once in an interview on “The Meredith Vieira Show”, and once on stage, she has stated that she was “betrayed”.
The two recently met for the first time in September during the movie ‘Viruzes’ by Roll Joe and Ja Roll where Nelly went to hug Ashanti. This had many fans who would like to get back together, but Ashanti seems to have no interest in doing so.
As for what Jackson has to say about her and Nelly’s breakup, some fans just aren’t buying it. Someone said, “This man wants Ashanti.” Another person said, “Floyd is somewhere surrounded by women and money dying laughing at this,” referring to Floyd Mayweather, to whom Jackson was engaged for nearly four years.
Another wrote, “7 years and he didn’t give you a ring… you should have moved on!”
Nelly has not yet commented on Jackson’s interview.
