What is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Netflix?
Admittedly, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer doesn’t reveal much, but Netflix did share some plot details.

The longer summary states:
Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lily (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Lattimore) and Ruth (Neil Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start a perfect new business. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disable the home of Leatherface, a deranged serial killer whose bloodstained legacy still haunts the area’s residents – including Sally Hardesty (Olwin Fury), the sole survivor of the infamous 1973 massacre. on revenge.
Thus the new film is directly connected to a heritage character – Sally – and, in a sense, recreates the basic structure of the original 1974 The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. In short, young strangers come to town and mistakenly stumble upon the Sawyer family home, where Leatherface is waiting.
What does the first trailer for the Texas Chainsaw massacre reveal?
We get some very subtle information in the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer.
More than anything else, it gives a chilling tone. First we see grainy old footage of the Sawyer family home featured in the original 1974 Texas Chain Saw Massacre. The dim picture is accompanied by the familiar dots of the original 1974 movie. The high-pitched rhythmic violin scraping is deeply disturbing and an ode to the new film’s origins.
The camera pans through Sawyer’s house, pausing over family photos, as the sound reverberates throughout the building. The title card reads: “In 1974 a horror legend was born.” Then we see the source of the beating, where someone later revealed that it was the skin of the face penetrating a wall. In 2022, Face Madness returns.

Hidden inside the old chainsaw wall. The skin of the face removes it, and the massacre begins.
We get quick cuts for the new young actors in the house, seemingly hiding and escaping from their stalker. Leatherface plunges his saw through the ground, slowly making his way toward a potential victim.
The trailer ends with him holding a human face mask (the old one he used to wear? A new mask made from new victims?) up to the light, presumably ready to be put on again.
Hints, quests and Easter eggs
One of the biggest questions about this new trailer revolves around what Leatherface has been up to since 1973. Why was his chainsaw hidden away? Has he been on the rise all these 50 years? Just like Halloween of 2018, this will be a complete reset for the series, ignoring the sequels and starting with a new slate.
Leatherface appears to have scratched his face in a family photo, indicating some sort of inner turmoil and shame. These details, along with the way he hid his favorite murder weapon behind drywall, make it unclear how he relates to his past actions.

More importantly, if he had turned his back on his old, violent methods, what would have changed now? Why is he ready to dive again?
The trailer’s chassis makes it sound as if Leatherface is some kind of John Wick character who has ditched his old ways. John Wick’s return had an obvious precipitating event, the dog left by his dead wife was murdered by criminals who broke into his home.
What would be the reason for Leatherface to choose violence again?
