Everyone loves a good game show and puts their wits against the contestants and host.
Playing along is definitely part of the fun, but it’s even better when some optimist makes the blunder of a simple question.
We’ve rounded up some of the most amazing wrong answers aired on game shows around the world.
But to be fair to our diverse cast of hapless heroes and heroines, it’s nice to be sitting in the comfort of your own home, cold beer handy, and laughing hysterically at a fatal mistake—it’s another thing to be under the spotlight in a studio TV setting.
The grumpy contestants may be grumbling about their awkward, awkward answers but everyone else can have a good laugh at their expense.
Here’s our roundup of some of the best howls from around the world.
Orange is not the only fruit
Try not to laugh too much at this contestant in the US who, when asked to name a yellow fruit, replied, “Orange.”
Despite the expression on her face, she knew right away that she had dropped a total hustle.
Contestant aims to win first prize on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Rather, it crashed and burned in the States.
The question I was faced with was, “When predators attack it, which of these animals will most often activate a large gland known as the ink sac?”
The four possible answers were Cheetah, Squid, Owl, and Paris Hilton.
Our hapless contestant though plump for the answer C, an owl immediately regretted the decision.
wheel of misfortune
Far from fun, but the poor Wheel of Fortune rider missed winning a brand-new Audi Q3 because she stuttered while answering the question.
Charlene Robusch gave her answer before the bell sounded, but apparently paused for a long time between the four words for her correct answer.
The judges of the game program said that the contestant needs to say the words “constantly” to win the prize.
A hearing-impaired contestant on the US version of Family Feud came out in amazing fashion.
The man, who was hoping to outsmart a rival member of the opposing family, was evidently overheard when host Steve Harvey asked the question, “Name a type of suit that might be inappropriate in the office.”
“Chicken noodles,” said our unhappy contestant, “unfortunately you’re not wearing a soup suit.”
Another unhappy US contestant revealed her complete ignorance of pregnancy in this howl.
The host asked her: “In what month of pregnancy does a woman begin to appear pregnant?”
Explosion of hope: “September”.
This Family Feud contestant wasn’t completely wrong with his answer but it still got viewers stitching.
When the host asked him: “Name something a thief would not like to see when he breaks into a house,” the owner of the hope replied, “Naked grandmother!”
To be fair, probably no one wants to see that.
in hot water
British game show The Chase also had some excellent laughs thanks to some of its contestants who were hugely successful.
Bradley Walsh: What is a herd of elephants called?
Bradley Walsh: “What is the only planet known to support life?”

Another classic story from Family Feud clearly revealed that this woman didn’t know much about animals.
Steve Harvey asked the question, “Name something a doctor might pull from someone.”
The lady was apparently not familiar with the cuddly, furry animals and answered: “Gerbil.”
This woman clearly didn’t know much about the world outside of America.
Four women were asked: “In what country would your husband say that the last foreign car he rode in was made?”
A woman replied: “USA?” The host reminded her that the United States is not a foreign country.
The unhappy contestant immediately made matters worse for herself with her answer: “Texas.”
