Some Christmas movies are more relaxing than others.
That’s what digital analytics company Honcho Search discovered when researching stress levels in popular holiday movies.
The UK-based company told Fox News it had pulled the seed slate from Ultimate Christmas Films Rotten Tomatoes, which included family-friendly classics like “A Christmas Story,” “Home Alone,” and “Elf” or adult titles like “Bad Santa.” , “A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas” and “Tokyo Godfathers.” Honcho then downloaded PDF texts from each movie and ran it through a “scientific tensile strength tool” designed to identify which texts cause stress or relaxation.
“During the Christmas holidays, we consume a lot of media along with our family, the holidays should be a time to relax, so here at Honcho we thought it would be fun to discover the movies we are most comfortable watching during the December period,” said Jack Minot, Head of Data and Insights at Honcho for Fox.” Using the TensiSt Strength method estimates the strength of positive and negative emotions in a text using a score between -5 to 5. The TensiSt Strength tool analyzes word use, considering combinations of phrases and the language used to identify feelings. For example, “I had a bad time at my office party” versus “I had a horrible time at my office party,” back -2 vs. -3.
Honcho has narrowed down the 11 most relaxing Christmas movies to watch with this stress meter, and here’s how these holiday titles stack up.
